Bright, playful and unmistakably personal, Peanut + Who is a creative universe where art doesn't take itself too seriously.

Alkistis Houliarakis combines colour, character and language to create work that catches the eye and invites a second look. Her pieces have an effortless charm, balancing wit and warmth while finding beauty in the small, familiar details of everyday life.

Born in London in 1990, Alkistis Houliarakis is a Biological Sciences graduate and self-taught artist whose creative practice sits somewhere between the precision of language and the freedom of image. After a career in corporate communications in both London and Athens, she began painting during a period of uncertainty in her life, discovering in art a space where structure and spontaneity, control and surrender could happily coexist.

Peanut + Who, launched in 2025 in Athens, is the playful world that grew from that exploration and from Alkistis’s particularly deep love of animals, especially her dachshund Peanut, who appears throughout her work. Peanut is more than the inspiration behind the name: she is a constant companion, a source of comfort, amusement and endless creative material. Through her, Alkistis became increasingly fascinated by the sweetness, simplicity and honesty of the animal world, and by the way animals can express feelings we sometimes struggle to put into words ourselves.

Working primarily digitally, Alkistis creates colourful, pattern-led pieces that bring together animals, nature, words and repetition. Language doesn’t simply accompany the image; it becomes part of the artwork itself - sometimes funny, sometimes tender, sometimes quietly reflective. Her work finds beauty and humour in the little things, often with a second layer waiting to be discovered.

Alongside its own print collections, Peanut + Who creates bespoke artwork and creative collaborations for brands, businesses, weddings and special events. The ambition is to build a world that extends beyond the canvas and into the things we wear, use and live with: through wearable art and artistic objects. At its heart, Peanut + Who is about something wonderfully simple: making colourful art that feels good to look at, makes you smile, and perhaps invites you to see parts of yourself a little differently.
