Maria Kaprili is a jewelry designer and jewel expert living in Athens, Greece. Her childhood passion for creating jewelry lead her to begin her studies at the Mokume Silversmith and Jewelry Design School, in her home town of Thessaloniki. She continued her studies with Gemology and Diamantology studies at Gem-A, The Gemological Association of Great Britain. Under the wing of Daniela Mascetti, she later finished her studies and training in Antique Jewelry at Sotheby’s in London. She then returned to teach for 4 years at the Mokume School in Thessaloniki.
Maria has almost two decades of experience working as a diamond and antique jewelry specialist and appraiser. Although she has always designed and produced fine jewelry for special orders and commissions, she has only recently decided to launch her very own brand and her first collections as a jewelry designer.
Very much influenced by the Art Deco period, and specifically its ethnic elements, her first small collections include good luck and protection emblems, made with the strict form and aesthetics , reflecting the precious jewels from that era. Her modern bohemian chic amulets, either oversized or provocatively minimal, are characterized by multicolor stones and the shine of metal. Other than her unique designs, Maria’s highly specialized expertise in craftsmanship is put into personally producing each piece she designs.
